The Time is Now

I’ve been thinking about starting a blog for a while (which should be read as “contemplating, planning, and procrastinating for a few years”). Finally, I decided that the time had come to quit worrying about not being properly prepared and just begin.

Why a Blog?

I long to write and to share that writing with others. That’s my main reason for staking my metaphorical claim to this little corner of the internet. A blog seemed like a great way to get my writing from me to you. As you might have guessed, I am not the best at being self-motivated. A blog also seemed like a wonderful way to acquire some level of accountability.

What’s With the “Goose”?

If I intend to be a writer, why in the world did I give this blog a name with “farm” in the title?

Elena

Simple. Between the time at 9 yrs. old when I decided to write a novel and some moment in my early twenties, an older passion – the love of animals – reasserted itself. Like a magnet, it attracted a bunch of new homesteading ideas until it grew to nearly match my love of writing. I long to be a homesteader.

Where Am I Going?

I hope this blog will be a place where my fellow writers and homesteaders can find a kindred spirit. I’d like to be that arm linked through your elbow, inviting you to go deeper. Deeper into the joy of words, and deeper into the hands-on delight of homesteading.

I intend to write about lots of things, but I think you will find one thread or the other (and sometimes both!) woven throughout. And I hope that in it all, you will catch glimmers of the glory of Jesus Christ.

I’m not here because I’m an expert, but because I want to share what I’ve already learned and experienced. I’m here because I want to keep on learning and sharing. In short: I’m curious and I’m planning to go on a journey. I’d be honored if you chose to come along.
